BARILOCHE / LLAO LLAO Hotel & Resort
The Hotel
In 1934, the Patagonia and Andean region was a completely uninhabited and virgin territory. In that year, with the creation of the Nahuel Huapi National Park, the construction of an International Hotel was started to develop the turistic potential of the area together with the foundation of towns and establishment of communications.
The Architect Alejandro Bustillo chose the Puerto Pañuelo area to build the Hotel as in addition to its magnificence and beautiful scenery, it had a port. Built with cypress logs and larch tile roofing in the Canadian home style, it was opened to the public on January 9, 1938. On October 26, 1939 a fire destroyed the building completely, but it was reopened on December 15, 1940. Since then, members of the aristocracy, officials, diplomats and famous guests have stayed at the hotel. Although it closed in 1978 for a period of 15 years, the spirit of the hotel remained intact.
The Hotel opened its doors to the public again in 1993 under the name of Llao Llao Hotel & Resort, Golf-Spa. In December 2007, the Lago Moreno wing was opened (Llao Llao Deluxe Suites – Moreno Lake Wing) built on a strategic site overlooking stunning views of Moreno Lake and Mount Tronador. The wing has 43 new rooms: Deluxe Studios and Suites, two Master Suites and one Royal Suite.
Surrounded by the Cerro Lopez and Tronador mountain peaks and the Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes, the Hotel has a 15-hectare park, including the 18-hole golf course, the marina, beach, solarium, heated indoor and outdoor vanishing edge swimming-pools, Spa and Healthclub with sauna, Fitness Center and other leisure activities.
Handcrafted boards of solid wood Cypress and Pine-Hemlock were used for the floorings.
The Hotel has two wings: Ala Bustillo and Lago Moreno wings. The first wing has 162 rooms, 11 studios and 12 suites overlooking the Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes and the Cerro López mountain peak.
The Lago Moreno wing has 43 deluxe studios and suites: 23 Deluxe Moreno Lake Studios, 17 Deluxe Moreno Lake Suites, 2 Deluxe Master Moreno Lake Suites, and 1 Deluxe Royal Moreno Lake Suite.
Llao Llao has five restaurants. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of dishes, from International Cuisine to our top level traditional food, such as the popular "Llao Llao Tea" which is served overlooking the spectacular view of the Hotel gardens and the breathtaking Nahuel Huapi Lake.
